So here it is. The single most important ruling on press freedom in the UK since the very idea of a free press was born – and realised – on these shores nearly 400 years ago. Lord Justice Leveson’s inquiry and his findings, published today, have split parliament in two by suggesting a new press law that would end the print media’s privilege of having self-regulatory status.
